What does a candidate assessment measure?

Our candidate assessments measure job-specific cognitive abilities and work personality characteristics that are required to perform the job well to help you find the best fit candidates for your roles.

What is O*NET?

ONET, which stands for the Occupational Information Network, is a comprehensive database of occupational information created and maintained by the U.S. Department of Labor. It provides detailed descriptions of the world of work for use by job seekers, employers, workforce development professionals, and researchers. Among other things, it identifies the job cognitive abilities and work personality characteristics required to perform an occupation.

What are customized assessments?

When your job is either somewhat similar to an existing O*NET occupation or does not match with any O*NET occupation, we can build an assessment for such a job through a job analysis by one or more of your SMEs that know the job well. Typically, our customers use pre-built assessments for around 50% of their jobs and customized assessments for the other 50%.

What kind of reports are provided by RightHire?

RightHire provides four different types of reports. Specifically, a job analysis report that explains how a pacific set of tests were chosen to measure candidates for that particular job, a candidate selection report that explains the candidate’s assessment scores and whether or not the candidate should move forward in the hiring process, a candidate career development report that can optionally be provided to candidates that complete an assessment to help them improve on cognitive abilities and work personality characteristics where they performed poorly, and a structured interview guide that you can use to further evaluate candidates on work personality characteristics where they performed poorly.

How many assessments can I create in the annual subscription plan?

You can create unlimited number of assessments

Do assessments expire?

Yes, each assessment expires in 9 weeks. This gives you enough time to assess candidates for the job.

Are cognitive abilities and work personality characteristics predictive of job performance?

Research has shown that job-specific cognitive abilities and work personality characteristics are highly correlated with job performance

What are pre-built assessments?

Pre-built assessments are ready-made assessments tailored to over 950 types of occupations, allowing you to quickly and easily start evaluating candidates when the job you are hiring for matches one of these O*NET occupations.

How do I know if my job is similar to one of the O*NET occupations?

You can cross-reference your job descriptions with the O*NET database to find similar occupations and corresponding assessments. The occupational profiles in O*NET can be accessed from https://www.onetonline.org/.
